Title: Mike no happy with injured Loki

Loki is in recovery after Lissandra worked on his injuries caused by Wolverine. He's been changed into a clean tunic, since his other had been shredded and soaked in blood. He is sleeping lightly to recover some of his strength.

One of the bright sides of using his abilities to bring Loki back was the lack of blood getting onto his clothes. However that gave Mike plenty of time to wait and think. Also to fume. As Loki sleeps, Mike sits by the Asgardian's bed, sketch pad open as he draws. He is not at all smiling.

Sensing someone nearby, Loki stirs, opening his eyes blearily, then closing them again. "Where am I?" He asks, shifting as if to sit up but his injuries protest. "Mike? What are you doing here?"

The pencil stops it's movements as Loki betrays his awake status. The musician is silent as he closes the sketchpad, being unkind by not providing the answers Loki seeks and instead fixing the Asgardian with an angry glare.

Turning his head to look at Mike, Loki immediately looks away. "Don't look at me like that. It was my decision to make. You just had to interfere! Why didn't you let him finish me? You could have saved your world."

Closed mouth, the lip to one side of Mike's mouth bumps up as he runs his tongue over that side of the teeth in consideration before settling down. He crosses his arms, still not speaking. Just glaring.

"What? I'm a projective telepath not a receptive one, you know. I cannot read your mind. Why are you looking at me in such a manner? I did what I thought was right. Why were you there anyway?"

Mike takes a deep breath, shaking his head as he finally breaks his silence. "Because I was worried about you." Shoulders lowering, the concerned friend drops the hostile look momentarily, "And you proved me right to be that way." He leans back, eyes squinting, "Just… Loki. What the HELL were you thinking?"

"I thought that if I got myself killed that there would be no way that I could kill Balder. Stephen Strange agreed with me and said to say my goodbyes. I couldn't do it, so I just went to antagonize Wolverine. I could have succeeded."

Hearing the name of the sorceror being brought up, the expression darkens. "He did? I see…" He pauses, considering matters before shaking his head, "Very well. Here's a question for you then." The head shakes as he glances down, hands balling into fists upon the sketchbook cover, "Is Fate unavoidable?"

"I don't know." Loki says, looking at Mike. "Are you cross with me? Why? I was doing this for your world. I wanted to take control of my own destiny. I wanted to go on my OWN terms."

"Oh not cross." Mike assures, giving a forced smile as he shakes his head, "Cross isn't enough of a word to describe how I'm feeling right now. I'm outright furious." The sketchbook slides off of the lap, landing on the floor with a bang as Mike slides forward in his chair to set his hands on the side of Loki's bed. "You can try to flower it up with your excuses but let's call it like it is." He lifts up a hand to point at Loki, "You gave up."

Loki furrows his brow, loooking a bit furious. "I did not! I tried to think of a solution and this was the only one I could come up with that would work. Come on, Mike…what do you expect me to do? What would YOU do?"

"I would NOT expect for you to commit suicide!" Mike answers back, "Now back to the fate thing. Let's go over that bit. Because I REALLY want to cover that little gem…" He gives a bit of a sneer as he shakes his head, "IF Fate is unavoidable then you're just wasting energy or even worse, speeding things up by what you did today. IF it is NOT, then there are other ways to go off script than by suicide." The expression softens, turning a bit more pleading, "Either way. Don't ever try that again."

"It wasn't suicide! It was sacrifice!" Loki struggles to sit up, grunting. "I may not try such a method again, but I will do what I need to do. I don't know what is expected of me. Am I really supposed to kill my brother? Balder and I don't get along that well, but I don't see that I would murder him in cold blood."

"Maybe someone else does it in your name." Mike suggests, "And well, if that's the case, your 'sacrifice' would have done little except to deprive us of an ally when the shit hits the fan." He folds his arms, "I think you're focusing too much on one part of this."

Loki sighs. "Focusing on what? I am sorry if I upset you. Why would anyone do it in my name? That would be awkward."

"I don't know. An out of control fan?" Mike admits, "You'd be surprised at the things people will do. Even I've had to deal with some unruley fans."

"I still don't know what you want me to do. I…" Loki sighs and turns his head to the side. "It was the only remaining idea."

"I don't want you thinking that the only way you can help is by killing yourself." He frowns, "You should talk to Thor about this. If you're at the point where you're trying things like this, you're at the point where you should not be keeping this from him. If this thing happens, we're going to need to know what to expect. Beyond part 1."

"Thor cannot help. He would agree that killing me is the best course of action. I have been unable to speak to him brother to brother for centuries."

"Ok you have a REAL fucked up family, you know that?"

"I am fully aware of that fact, thank you." Loki replies sourly.

Mike grumbles, shaking his head, "You do realize we will at least let our teammates know about this, right? With all your talk of it, I'd be surprised if they don't have some inkling already. But this going it alone thing has got to stop."

"Steve already lectured me. Now you. Who is next in the queue? Might as well take a number and line up outside."

"Lecturing's a sign of caring. People care about you. Get used to it."

"I suppose…" Loki sighs. "So what now?"

"Well." Mike considers, giving a bit of a sigh as he gets up. "You focus on healing up and getting better. After that, we're going to have a sit down with Steve and go over what's going on. Make sure we're all under the same understanding."

"Fine." Loki sighs. "I will be here for a while longer, but then I am relocating to my room."

Mike nods, "Alright. When you're back there, we'll get Steve to come by."
