Title: Now that she's back in the atmosphere.

New Year's Eve in the city is something of a big deal in every bourough and every neighborhood, just not so much in Chinatown where they do their own thing. Sure, there's plenty of upbeat and excited folk, and lots of high spirits to go around, but compared to places like Times Square it's practically sleepy. But while there's not a lot of partying going on around Columbus Park, there are a lot of dancing lights amongst the trees.

Not all of them are stationary, however. A night like this, even in the 'quiet' part of the city, is just what a certain person recently returned from a whistle-stop tour of the solar system needed to use to get back into the city without too much fanfare. It gives her the cover she needs to get onto the ground and condense her energies until she's more or less her old self again, then toss on a skin so that for all appearances, Ember Reynolds is walking the streets as a physical being once again.

Hopefully she can avoid too running into anyone she knows, or anyone too curious. But when has that ever been her luck?

***

Curiosities are abound when it comes to the Big Apple. One way or another something is going on. But on this one such curiosity decided to take the sleepy route. Well half of him anyways. A two headed behemoth with four arms was walking around Colombus park, and while they seemed to be enjoying new years, it was rather apparent they were argueing. About what is hard to say. Despite the similarties between the two halves, it would have been easy enough to tell the two heads apart as they seemed to be polar opposits both in style and in mannerisms. And while one may assume they were mutants, their isn't a sentinel alive who bothers with the unsual pair since, for all intents and purposes they were not mutants.
None the less two bottles of malta in hand, they wandered through the park and towards somce dancing lights, curisity attracting them

***

Emma Frost has found her way outside of the mansion, and not a moment too soon, Marie's been in a mood as has most everyone else. She figured she'd risk the odd sentinel tonight to get a chance to be on her own and hopefully get some personal shopping in. It's been a few hours since she's made her way to chinatown and has stopped, with a few bags in tow, at an authentic rice stand and is sitting the chopsticks in hand eating a filling diner. The Ice Queen isn't exactly hiding herself, the long blond locks of hair flapping gently in the breeze make her stand out as she is wearing a mostly white fur coat and some thicker warmer pants that somehow still show off her figure.

***

Ember has never seen a sentinel, just frost giants, demons, and world devouring snakes. And she's been gone walkabout for most of the last year, so it's not a worry for her as her still somewhat glowy faux human form starts out from the depths of the park. It's taking her a bit to adjust to how her senses work with so much physical matter around, but even in this condition she can tell when something just plain isn't right. And two heads, four arms, and whatever else is on that one huge person is absolutely 'not right'. And he's coming this way. Joy!

She moves back away from the approaching ettin-goro-man, towards the edge of the park that would once have been her favorite place ever… the food vendors, her form fading in and out of visibility but with giveaway glimmers and flashes from her aura as it flows around and behind her. She tries to tamp it down entirely, but it's never fully effective. This was so much easier in a vaccuum!

***

Well the two heads begin arguing once again as they walk, and despite this, they seem to have an amazing sense of coordination as they never trip up. Head one says to the other "Oh come on. We came here to get some food. And there looks like a good rice stand that way" he says point towards where Emma was with two of their arms. Head two looks back to head one "But the flashing purdy lights.."

The first head rolls his eyes "Looks, that probably some lady we DON'T know. And no one wants to get scarred by some toheaded freak! And sighs, we agreed to food". This make head two groan annoyed and says "FINE! Not like we need to eat" he grumbles before shouting out towards Ember with a large boisterous voice "Eh Lady, yer lights are purdy!"

***

Something about Ember's and these two heads, they're both bothering Emma's mind, and as such, she holds up her chopsticks away from her bowl and turns around to view who these are. Oh the sights in New York can never fail to amaze. She spots Ember somewhat easily through the crowds and gives the woman a mental message, [Are you okay?] Sensing the turmoil in the woman and yet Emma still keeps her eyes on the siamese not sure what to make of him, them, they?

***

Sending thoughts into Ember's mind is like whispering into an echo chamber, mainly because her mind isn't in one neatly contained space but is rather spread across her energy core. So when the question is asked in her mind it brings her up short as she exits the park into the evening crowds. Her 'hands' go up to her 'ears' briefly before she remembers what she is now. She looks around quickly enough that her features blur like a time-lapse image, "Who said that?" She's completely forgotten about the walking duo for a moment. Well, mostly.

***

The dynamic duo can certainly be referred to as them and they, or anything meaning more than one. Nne the less they have for now stopped going towards Ember and were heading towards Emma, or more accuratly the food stand Emma was at. The polar opposits heads were already arguing (again) as if they couldn't agree on anything. But once at the stand, head two starts speaking much to head one Dismay "Yea, can we get french fries, five burgers, a can of soda and what they junk is?". Which illicits a facepalm from head one as he cover head two mouth.
Head One begins to talk "Excuse my….brother Sir" he says dryly "He is a bit drunk. Just give us generol tso chicken with yer house fried rice please. Smells good. Oh and a can of coke and a can of pepsi. No more drinking for us" as he gives head two the look.
Head two shoves the hand off and grumbles in some sort of unknown language before looking to Emma "heya cutie, you got a bootie!". Head one face turns red from embarressment as he uses two hands to cover head two mouth "Ahem! SOrry mam, he is very drunk!"

***

Emma gives a soft grin as she does notice the different metaphysiology of Ember and she corrects her projections, [Are you well young one, you've experienced far more that most your age and worse than many will ever face.] She says, her friendly tones seeping through and around her message, making it almost have a calming effect if Ember is receptive towards it. Suddenly Emma looks to her side and gives head too a sharp glance before she pushes a mental scalpel his direction to hopefully knock the one head out while she simultaneously speaks, "It's alright-" She does cut herself off in case the mental attack works.

***

The changes to the voice in her head, the expert touch adjusting to her own condition, brings to mind someone. But… it's a woman? [Not the Professor… who?] The thoughts are still scattered in a way consistent with her difuse form, but still show a familiarity with 'speaking' to be heard by a telepath. But the undercurrents to the message do have a positive effect on her current state of mind. She manages to pull extra stability from a mental image of the Great Eye storm of Jupiter as seen from really very close and then the illusion of her old self that's cloaking her energy form snaps into full solidity. And once she's fully calm again is, of course right when she spots the ettin-goro-man just down the walk. But instead of freaking out again this time she starts to walk up to them around the time of their exchange with Emma.

***

As it turns out, things of a mental nature dosn't quite work as one would expect the ettin like person. For one thing -both- heads are affected and react by putting their hands (all four of them) to their head as if in great pain saying in syncronized unision "What the hell?" They both shake their heads seeming quite startled by the effect. It might be they have some sort of mental resistance to psy attacks. Or perhaps the two minds that inhabit their body simply makes a need for extra precision, or mabey the two minds are mixed into one? It's hard to say without any further investigation, but none the less it did have an effect on them. One might note if they paying attention, that the unsual pair does not broadcast mental thoughts, though clearly they are not immune to telepathic abilites
None the less after a moment of grumbing head one once again says to Emma, putting the attack out of his mind "Again sorry for my brother" and soon their order, at least part of it appears. Head two waves to Ember excitedly before head one shoves the aving hand down "WOuld you relax!"

***

Emma frowns inwardly as she has no effect on the garish being next to her, and that's not something she doesn't take lightly. She begins a mental probe directed at the twins while she puts eyes on Ember, giving the crystal-girl a smile and an invitation to sit next to her with a gesture of her head. [I'm not the professor but I'm the next best thing, or vice versa.] Awfully confident and it seeps through to her message. "Pleased to meet you both, I'm Emma Frost." She says her full name as if anyone might know who she is.

***

Ember tentatively returns the two-headed man's energetic wave before shifting her apparent focus towards Emma as the woman invites her to set. Visually, this means that in one eyeblink the shortish brunette young woman is facing the two-heads-are-better guy and then in the next she's facing Emma with no turning or transition. And then in the next eyeblink she's sitting in the offered chair. There is humor in her thoughts about the comment Emma sent her regarding the Professor. There's a blend of respect and vague disappointment in her mind towards Xavier as well, mixed with a feeling that she misses her old room there somewhat.

"Pleased to meet you as well, I guess." It's plain she has no idea if she's supposed to know who Emma is already. Also, her voice comes from her without the benefit of breath or moving lips. It's just there. "I've had a few names, myself but for now I suppose I'll go by the one I've had the longest. I'm Ember. Ember Siobhan Essex-Reynolds."

***

As it turns out, the dynamic duo was indeed telepathic resistant, but not immune. The resistance is there, but is easy enough to get by when your a trained telepath like Emma. But in their heads…. odd dosn't even seem to cut it. There is no recollection of a birth, or family. There images of all sorts of weird creatures and people as if he came from another world, and in some cases the memories may have come from another time. Actualy the memories seem like they come from all sorts of people instead of any just one person. And not all those people were human, and some one wouldn't even know what to call them. And that was just memory, ONE of the minds simply felt inhuman, while the other was perfectly human.
Meanwhile outside the mind, head one introcudes themselves "I am Bastion, and my Brother here is " head two blurts in "bah, just call us by our last name, Raider, we may as well be one person" he chuckles while Bastion, the named head, rolls his eyes.
Backinside the head, a voice would be heard chuckling [Hey! There somewhere else in here. Are you a cousin? Pretty sure your one. Well if your not, Hello!] whatever this persona, it was by no means hostile. Head two chuckled at the same time as the inner voice. But Bastion, the first head dosn't seem aware of any disturbances as he says to Ember "Sorry if we scared you early Miss, my brother can be…. excitable" though he was watching Ember carefully notcing the lack of turning

***

[I basically have the professors job now and do share the same sentiments as you towards the man.] Thinks Emma towards Ember, actually wanting to help the girl. Then with a sidelong glance from her rice bowl, Emma looks up to Bastion. "That's an interesting name." She speaks kindly though it's hard to hide a portion of the venom in her voice. "What brings you out on a night like this?" She asks, making small talk while still conversing mentally with Ember. [Interesting I've never met you either.]

***

"Bastion Raider and Rude Raider. Interesting names." Of course Ember has to take a dig at the big guy. She's changed, but there's that old saying about things staying the same. And again, no detectable transition between her state of facing Emma while sitting to facing Bastion. Although in her mind there is a clear impression of how she's actually doing both and neither at the same time but is rather taking in everything around her all at once. And she's not really seeing those around her, but is rather sensing all of the energy forms that people and things emit, reflect, or absorb and in sense combinations that mix sight, hearing, touch, and even taste into a melange that Ember is somehow able to interpret. Most of the time.

[I've been away for a while. I was… no longer welcome there so I took a tour of the solar system to take my mind off of things.] There's that sense again that her time away didn't make her miss the Institute any less. [So if you're the new 'Professor'…] So many questions in that thought. And maybe a bit of hope.

***

Bastion simply looks Embarressed while 'Rude Raider' laughs boisteriously, not seeming to have an angry bone in hos body "Ahhh, come on. It's a night of celebration. A chance to be wild childs! Ahoooowwwwwwl!" he says to the Venomouse Emma and the digging Ember And then they adruptly stand up Bastion so red he could make a cherry jeolouse as he says to both Ember and Emma "Ahem, sorry ladies, but I think I best take… him home" he grumbes as he struggles to get out his wallet to pay for their uneaten meal. They begin arguing softly in some unknown language, though the argument inside their heads is FAR worse.

***

"Well, it was, interesting meeting you." Emma says before she turns back to her rice and as she's lifting her hand to eat a bite she drops her utensils and looking back to Ember. "Something's happening in the Square and I'm certain that neither of us want to be around if it reaches out here." She says, quickly getting up and dropping a fifty next to her bowl and moving towards her car. [You're welcome to come back to the school, regardless of what we could teach you any more.]

***

There is the briefest of moments between Emma mentioning Times Square and Ember's response where she's more of an afterimage than a solid-ish person. "I'm back. The Square is full of New Year's crowds cheering some sentinels in the crowd grabbing up mutants." Sure she hasn't seen them and hadn't considered them a personal threat before, but that might be changing after she's seen them firsthand. "So yeah, can't be certain that I'm off their radar these days. Not that they could catch me if they wanted to, but.." She shrugs and nods as Emma stands and pays for her meal plus tip. [I might… I'll think about it. Thank you.]

She hear's the woman in white's voice one more time in her mind as she disolves into her true form and fades from human sight; [You could help others like yourself, in ways you don't know.]
