2017-01-12 - April tells the Guys

Brooklyn - Sewers - Turtle Lair

Players:
April
Leo
Raph
Donny

April had handed off the pizzas to whichever turtle(s) had come to meet her at the sewer entrance and then she'd crawled her way down into the sewers from the old rusty iron ladder. Once down she followed them back to the lair. "Three extra large pizzas. Everything that Mikey texted me on each one. And four bottles of two-liter sodas… I think I got it all right this time.

"I grabbed all the extra stuff too, its all stuffed into the bags with the sodas." She looked a bit exhausted and frazzled, standing in the lair she brushed her long bright orange/red hair out of her face and adjusted her big dark-framed glasses over her blue eyes, smiling at them all.

-

It was, perhaps to nobody's surprise, Leo who met April at the entrance and took over the food from her almost immediately. Partly being a gentleman, partly because he doesn't want her to drop it on the way into the lair. Simple enough for a turtle to get in there, but humans? Major design flaw there, surely?

"Yo guys, food's here." Leo echoed April's greeting in a condensed form, tossing pies to his brothers and setting the rest down on a table. Pizza boxes go sailing like shuriken, and the turtle seems to have absolute confidence that his brothers will be able to catch them. "Thanks for the food run, April. The fridge's a little empty right now. Mikey had a major snack attack"

-
Raphael nodded his thanks to April for the pizza, adding in a grunt for extra politeness. He retreated into his alcove, sitting down somewhere and opening the box to start silently eating. He didn't look like he'd be coming out to talk any time soon.

-

April smiled at Leo and walked with him, glancing over at him now and then like there was something on her mind. She stepped carefully in the grimey sewers outside of the lair, she knew that the turtles sometimes kind of clean-up outside their home, but often the inclimate weather above discards stuff down through the open drains.

"You're welcome, Raph." April said to the grumpiest of the turtles when he grunted at her and stalked off to his alcove. "Its good to see you too, by the way." She smirked and then crossed her arms together over her stomach. Her eyes went to Leo then and she waited for the others to be out of direct ear shot. "Hey, do you have a second to chat? Something's come up, something bad."

-

"That means he likes you." Leo confirms after Raphael's grunt, arms crossed and watching his brothers with a smile. "Best we ever get is a growl or a slap to the back of the head. Haven't seen him this cheerful in weeks." Yup. Leo and Raph, oil and water. 'Liberating' a slice for himself, the turtle discreetly steps into the dojo, well out of the way of the others while not being ostentatiously just gone. It might be easy to disappear, but it's harder to disappear without another Ninja noticing you're trying. Always best not to try. "What's up? Bad is … bad."

-

April followed Leo into his dojo, she glanced around it, having seen it before.. always impressed with how much the guys do with their home down here… she had wanted to help them out with furniture and such, but she barely got-by financially herself. She uncrossed her arms from her stomach and let her yellow leather jacket hang back around her waist as it was designed.

"He's not dead, Leo." April said to him, her hands going to her waist now, the belt she had cinched around her blue jeans. "He and his goons just cornered me up above, outside of Angelo's." She looked a little distraught, because, well… they could've killed her if they'd wanted to. "He showed me his face, he's all… cut up, like out of a horror movie. But he's not dead, just… pissed off. He said this was a warning message, to all of us."

-

There's not much that'll put a turtle off his pizza, but damn… that'll do it. It's always a different Leonardo when you get him alone, far more serious and always worried about something, a face he rarely shows around his brothers. He'd always thought it was a possibility, but an outside chance at best. Now… "Wow, bummer…"

"Guess he didn't get our message then huh? I mean, a trash compactor to the face is usually pretty clear but I s'pose ol' ginsu knives can't take a hint." Those blue eyes turn to April then, suddenly serious again. "Look. We'll take care of it. We took care of him before, we'll do it again, we'll just hafta make sure it's a message he gets this time around. Outside of Angelo's, you say?"

-

April nodded to his last question as she started to pace back and forth in the dojo. "Yes, just outside of it." She said, glancing back at him. "Two corners down from the antique store." aka, her apartment. She shook her head softly then and turned back to face him. "This guy… is, bonkers, Leo. I mean, like a serious -whack job-!" She tried to stay calm. "I'll tell the police in the morning, but you know them… they'll just glare at me like I'm a crazy person. They already lost every Foot soldier that they arrested… they vanished out of their cells like they were -ghosts-."

Another sigh then and April's right hand went up to her glasses and she adjusted them on her nose. "I just didn't want to tell, the others… I didn't want to make them freak out."

-

"Nah, not ghosts. Ninja. They vanished like ninja. Bit of a hazard when you lock 'em up." There's two pacing the dojo, but Leo is pacing April in almost perfect lockstep, hand on his chin in seemingly deep ponderance, one finger tapping the top of his nose. Once April stops, he continues to pace for a moment, sidestepping as if the human visitor was another of the obstacles set up in the dojo. "There's kind of good news there, and some bad news. Means he knows the area you live, means he has no clue where we are. Otherwise he'd have sent us a message instead. And as long as he doesn't know, he probably won't try to hurt you, 'cause you're his only lead to us."

Still pondering, he gives one of the training dummies an absent minded round-house kick sending it bending down all the way to the ground before it pops back up. It was casual, just something to help him think. That would have flattened any Foot soldier. Perhaps he's trying to put April at ease… "I'll tell the guys, don't worry. And Master Splinter. We'll figure this out."

-

April paced with Leo up until the point where they separated and she paused to turn and watch him deliver that kick to the training dummie. She'd been taking some defense classes at the gym she went to, but they were nothing flashy like that… they were just classes to make defenseless women feel like they were 'doing something about it'. April was hoping to up her game in that department in the future, maybe do courses in that fighting style ethat Police Officers train.

April smiled after he kicked, and at what he said. She nodded her head lightly. "I thought about going to Splinter first, but… this is why he's trained you guys, right? I mean, this is the kind of thing you're supposed to have on your shoulders, right Leo?" She paused for just a second. "I didn't want to go around your leadership, I thought you'd appreciate me coming to you first is all." She turned them to aim herself back toward the entrance to the main living room where the others were eating, and likely curious about what was going on in here.

-

A moment later Leo's arm is around April's shoulders and the turtle is smiling, pretending like there has been no discussion of future doom and the resurgence of a nemesis. This is pizza party time, and as far as turtles go, that's as close as it gets to sacred. "So, ever had Ninja Pizza?"

-

April laughed lightly as she felt the arm go around her shoulders and she walked back out with him to find the others having likely devoured most of the food by now. "Ninja Pizza…?" She asked. "Is that where it all disappears before I've had a chance to have any of it?" She grinned over at him and then looked to see just what the others were up to by now.

-

Leonardo nods and delivers the pun. "It's pizza that…" He looks down to where he left his pizza. The box, before quite replete with delicious italian oven cooking, is looking decided barren. "… vanishes quickly, without any trace." The box is scooped up and thrown in the trash from across the room, while the turtle scans around for the most likely of his brothers to have snaffled his pizza.

-

Loudly as he coms out of his room, Donny sings, "If April was a turtle she'd be yellow and I'd be her fellow. Ohhhhh Aprillll my fair I loveee youuuuu….." he follows his nose finding the pizza on the table, "Oh score!" he says unaware that April is actually present in their home. Taking out a plate he loads it with a few slices and then walks to the couch plopping down missing Leo too perhaps occupied with his thoughts turning on the television he finds a game of some kind to watch while scarfing on a piece.

-

April grinned at Leonardo's explanation and then she sighed when she saw that it had all but mostly come true. She looked around for Mikey… no sign of him, or Raph. Or Donn— The singing took April's eyes to where the one in purple emerged and she grinned as she just lenead against the doorframe into Leo's Dojo and crossed her arms over her stomach, listening to his little song.

When Donny collapsed onto the sofa, April cleared her throat. "I'm not sure its quite as good good as Richie Valenzes 'Oh Donna' … but hey, I'll take it all the same, Donny." She grinned at the science-turtle-guy.

-

Donatello was about to take another bite but freezes at the voice. Quickly dropping it on the plate its set aside and he shoots up quickly to his feet turning with a deep blush. "Uh.. Hi, April…" he rocks back and forth a little on his feet. "I uh.. didn't know you were here. We got some pizza over there if you want some." he motions to the table.

-

April smiled at the purple turtle and she walked over toward the sofas where they had their tvs setup (kmultiple so multiple games could be played at the same time on the old video game consoles. "It was a sweet song." She said to him and went to kiss him on his cheek. She then showed a smile and sat down into the corner of the sofa and crossed her legs. "I brought the pizza. But it seems everyone has taken it and run back to their rooms." She glanced over her shoulder. "Guess I don't draw the crowd down here that I used to." She said with a little grin.

-

Donatello blushes deeper at the kiss to his cheek, "Oh none sense. They are just being busy bodies and pizza hogs." he goes to the kitchen pouring her a drink and claiming a couple of slices. Taking this back inside he offers the cup and plate, "For you. I'd been out a lot sooner if I knew you were here. I have headphones on and I apologize."

-

April accepted the plate and drink from him with a smile and a quiet 'thank' you. She sat the plate down on her lap and then took a sip of the drink before putting it on the little table beside the sofa. "Its okay. I had to talk to Leo about some stuff anyway." She replied to him then exhaled and started to fork around at the pizza on the plate. "How are your lab stuffs going?" She asked, grinning at him. "Making any cool new toys or inventions?"

-

Donatello sits back down and nods his head, "Making something for you actually. "Its not done yet but. Its a new mic and you can press a button on it and a small camera will pop out in front of you. So if a story is happening and the camera guy isn't there you can record the action. And the mic will be compact enough to fit in your purse or pocket." he takes a bite from a slice.

-

April munched on the pizza and she looked over at the sci-guy as he said these things and explained the new toy. It made her smile and she replied a couple moments later. "That sounds amazing. But I'll feel bad if something happens to it… You know how I have a tendancy to lose phones, keys, wallets, cameras… uh…" She looked up, her big glasses sliding down her small nose. "Shoes, jackets, ipads, gloves… my bike. Hats, tickets to things I'm supposed to see…" She glanced back at him then and grinned. "Just about everything. Cept my mind." She tapped the side of her redhead. "Still got that… at least I think I do anyway."
